PaphosThe town of Paphos, found on the southwest end of Cyprus, the third biggest is land in the Mediterranean. It is widely referred to as the place where the Greek goddess Aphrodite was born. In modern times, it has been divided into two sections. The commercial center is located toward the top of the hill, while the lower area contains all the ancient archeological sites, in addition to the majority of the motels.
Australians looking to get into Paphos will have the most luck through the Paphos International Airport, although it primarily takes charter flights. Charter flights to the area are still widely available, especially for Australians who first visit the UK. The airport can get very busy, especially on Wednesdays, so it may be wise to schedule your visit around this.
The town is relatively small, so there is no need to purchase a rental car if you don't want to pay for one. It is navigable by foot, which can also be a more enjoyable way to explore the area. Of course, if you want to leave the town and explore the surrounding areas this is not the case. Local buses are available, however, so navigation is still doable without a rental.
The Paphos Archeological Park is one of the most important places to visit, which includes the House of Theseus and the House of Dionysus. The Tombs of the Kings is actually a tomb housing rich citizens and government officials, but this complex carved out of solid stone is an impressive site.
