Tourism in Milan
Milan sits in the center of the largest metropolitan area in Italy.
There are many things to do in Milan. Some of the things the city is most well known for is its football, opera, and nightlife. All of these activities are magnificently done and while, usually expensive, worth every dime. However, those tourists who enjoy sight-seeing will have things to do in Milan as well, as the city is also known for its sights, such as the Duomo, a grand Gothic cathedral, La Scala, one of the best opera houses in the world, and the Brera art gallery, the home to some of the finest artistic works in Europe.
Milan is also known as one of the largest marketplaces of Italian fashion. Small boutiques, galleries and designer studios line many of the streets, providing tourists with a pricey yet exquisite selection of fashion articles that are coveted around the world. As a result of the abundance of fashion clothing, designers, supermodels and paparazzi are regularly seen throughout the city, preparing for fashion fairs.
While Milan has four airports, most tourists from Australia will come through the two main international air gateways, the Linate airport and the Malpensa airport.
