CaliOne of Colombia's fastest growing cities, Cali has not forgotten to devote some of its expansion to ensuring visitors have a good time. While there are nightclubs and restaurants galore, one of the highlights of Cali is the historical district.
Visiting Santiago de Cali is a great way to take in historically important churches such as La Ermita and La Merced, both of which are prime examples of classic Columbian architecture. If you're a major history buff, you'll want to make sure to visit the city centre, where La plaza de Caycedo puts many historic and modern edifices within walking distance.
In addition to notable historical buildings, Cali is home to a plethora of monuments, parks and museums. Cristo Rey and Sebastian de Belalcazar's monument are well-known and well-worth the short trips just out of town to visit.
Cali has no shortage of modern clubs and attractions, so make sure to stop by places like La Sexta, Chipichape mall and especially the Cali River. The river, on the west side of the city, is near many dining establishments as well as a fine art museum. For the party scene, Juanchito is your best bet, boasting what may be the highest concentration of discos and clubs nationwide.
Getting around Cali is pretty simple, as MIO bus rapid transit is very cheap. There are also older buses and taxis, the latter of which are more popular among tourists, being the most secure methods of transportation.
