If you are looking for an interesting small landlocked state to visit in South Asia, then Bhutan is the place for you. It is situated at the Eastern side of the Himalayas and is distanced from Nepal by the state of Sikkim. To get there, you can take a plane by the National Airline of Bhutan which is the only one that serves it this state and requires a visa before ticket issuance.

There are many areas in Bhutan both for sightseeing and shopping. Among these places is The Tiger's Nest Monastery which is the most sought after in this state. This is known to be a Buddhist enclave where Guru Rimpoche duelled with demon that lived in the mountains. The monastery is 20 minutes away from the city and the rest of the way can only be accessed by foot. The trek up the 900m cliff is not easy although there are places for rest located halfway up the monastery. Unfortunately, mobile phones and cameras are not allowed so better not bring this when going there.

If you are one of those who adore gardens, then you can go hiking at the Royal Botanical Garden. Here you can enjoy a huge variety of flowers and animals including elephants, tigers and red pandas. There is a lot of greenery up there, and everything is damp so it's good to have your jacket around you when visiting.

Last but not the least is the Dochula Pass which was created to commemorate the many who died during the war between the Bhutan King's army and the rebels.
